Today, many gardeners are engaged in growing potatoes, for which it is a profitable business or the opportunity to feed their families. Rosar potatoes are considered to be one of the best varieties, as it is characterized by high productivity, good taste and appearance. But it is important to properly care for root crops - this ensures a good harvest.
Variety description Rosara
The main advantage of potatoes is its maturity and high productivity. Plants develop as quickly as possible in the initial stages of the growing season, after the first sprouts, root crops appear already on the 45-50th day. Tubers reach full technical ripeness in 65-70 days. The bushes reach an average height (50-55 cm), semi-spreading, with green foliage and small inflorescences of red-violet flowers.
The color sprout is characterized by an ovoid shape with a slightly pubescent base. The marketable weight of tubers varies from 80 to 115 g. There are medium and large sizes, oblong-oval, elongated, similar to a drop. The tubers are distinguished by a smooth, red skin with small bright red eyes.
The potato has a light yellow flesh, prone to darkening when sliced and peeled, it darkens slightly during cooking. Rosara potatoes are well suited for boiling, but the taste during frying and baking is significantly reduced. It is better to use for the preparation of salads, first courses, side dishes.

Productivity
If you fulfill all the requirements of agricultural technology, the gardener will be able to collect up to 500 kg of high-quality, large, attractive fruits from one hundredth. It is important that crop yields will be maintained for five years, without changing seed material. Weather conditions do not affect the crop.
Variety Rosara gives the highest productivity in mid-latitudes. Farmers engaged in cultivation in the northern latitudes note that even with a slight temperature difference, the quality indicators do not decrease, the yield remains high.
Growing Features
In a few months they get a high-yielding and tasty variety of potatoes. It is best to start the first planting with seed, which will make it easier to evaluate its quality. But planting from potatoes will also give good results. Landing begins in May for harvesting in August.
Be sure to prepare the soil and seed, after which the gardeners begin to plant potatoes.
Soil preparation
It is correct to plant potatoes on sandy loam or loamy soil, which is prepared in advance from the fall. Weeds are harvested and the soil is loosened. In spring, you need to make a little humus, add 20 g of ash to each well.
It is best to grow a variety on land where such crops previously grew:
- cabbage;
- linen;
- cucumbers
- winter crops;
- lupine;
- annual and perennial herbs;
- legumes.
This is necessary so that diseases that the root crop is unstable are not transmitted through the soil. Prefer preferably unshaded area.
Seed preparation
Tuber germination is a procedure that allows you to reduce the already short growing season of the variety by another 7-12 days. After the growth buds come to life, the tubers are covered with moist sawdust with a layer of 3-4 cm. As they dry, they are sprayed with a solution of any biostimulant. The use of such drugs as heteroauxin, Epin, Mikon is recommended.
12-15 days before the tubers are planted in the ground, they are carried out in the sun to acquire a greenish skin peel. This increases resistance to all kinds of pest attacks. Productivity after such a procedure increases significantly.
Growing tubers from seeds
Growing potatoes from seeds is a good opportunity to cultivate a unique variety. The tubers that the gardener will receive in the first year will vary greatly in color, size, shape. The main task of the gardener will be the selection of the best of them.
Growing potatoes from seeds in open ground is only possible in regions with a warm subtropical climate.
How is the procedure:
- Harvesting potato fruits resembling small green tomatoes. Leave for ripening by hanging in a gauze bag in a room with the penetration of sunlight. After wrinkling and softening, the seeds are separated from the pulp and left to dry. After that, fill it with a potassium permanganate solution for half an hour, dry it and clean it in the room where they will be stored until spring, putting it in hermetically sealed glass containers.
- A week before planting, the seeds are processed. At night they hide in the refrigerator, and during the day in a warm place, for example, on a battery or window sill, illuminated by the sun.
- Wrap potato seeds in wet gauze for seedlings to appear.
- Prepare light and nutritious soil. Use a ready-made shop substrate for seedlings with the addition of Nitrofoski (2-3 g / l) or a mixture of ordinary turf garden soil, peat crumbs and coarse river sand.
- Half an hour before planting, the seeds are soaked in a solution of any biostimulant.
- Fill small flat containers with sterilized soil, level, moderately moisturize.
- Several seeds are planted at a distance of 4-7 cm from each other. Between the rows, the gap should be at least 8-10 cm. Top the seeds with a small layer of fine sand, gently compact. Cover containers with glass or plastic wrap.
- Sunlight should be exposed to the containers, the temperature must be at least 25 degrees. It is desirable that the container is heated from below. A greenhouse should be aired daily, opening it for 5-7 minutes.
- After 7-10 days, the first shoots will appear. After the growth of two leaves, seedlings are carefully planted in pots with peat.
- As soon as the plants take root, a new leaf begins to form, seedlings are fed, sprayed with nitrogen fertilizer. For 1.5-2 weeks before transplanting into the garden, the plants begin to temper, exposing them to the garden, on the veranda during the day. Gradually extend the period of being outdoors.
Landing Walkthrough
Potatoes are planted according to a certain pattern. There is nothing complicated in this process. The main thing is to do everything right, then the potatoes will take root and give a good harvest. What to do:
- Before planting, plow the soil to a depth of at least 30 cm.
- To add fertilizers containing phosphorus and potassium to the wells.
- Wells should be 6 cm deep for loamy soil, 10 cm for sandy soil.
- The distance between the holes is 40 cm.
- After fertilizing, put the potatoes in the wells with the sprouts up.
As fertilizer, crushed egg shells with wood ash and onion husks are used.
How to care?
It is possible to get a rich timely harvest only if the plants are well-maintained, and watering, weeding, hilling and fertilizing are not forgotten.
Watering | Weeding | Loosening | Hilling |
If the summer is hot and dry, be sure to water the potatoes. But so as not to overdo it, because plants can die from moisture. Rosara is distinguished by a dense and well-developed tops, therefore, in dry weather, it needs regular artificial irrigation. There are 5 liters of water per bush. | In the absence of the first seedlings, the soil is loosened twice, getting rid of weeds. In the same period, it is required to bury the soil. The first dismantling is performed a week after disembarkation in the ground, the second - after another 7 days. | The procedure is carried out when the plants grow to 10 cm in height - do this between the rows using a hoe or a plane cutter. When loosening the soil to a depth of 10 cm, it will be possible to get rid of weeds and saturate the soil with oxygen. With increased soil moisture, loosening is carried out to a greater depth. For 1-1.5 months, the soil is loosened three times with an interval of 10-15 days. | Shrubs should be treated at least twice during the growing season. Perform the procedure after watering or rain. At the first hilling, sprinkle each bush around with earth 12 cm, with the second - 20 cm. |
Pest control
Rosara is most susceptible to attacks by the Colorado potato beetle, considered one of the most delicious varieties.
Pests must be controlled, because otherwise the yield will be significantly reduced or there will be no fruits at all. To fight bugs, they use a chemical, folk, biological and mechanical method.
- The biological method. It is preferable to use biological control agents, because they are harmless to all living creatures and are intended exclusively for the destruction of pests. After using such funds, Colorado beetles retreat. The use of such drugs as Fitoverm, Bitoxybacillin, Colorado, Agravertin, Bicol is recommended.
- The use of chemicals. When using toxic chemicals, it is important to adhere to safety rules. Be sure to start work only after a thorough study of the instructions. Always wear protective clothing when handling chemicals. For 10 square meters, it is permissible to use no more than 1 liter of diluted solution.
- Mechanical way. Provides for the collection of pests by hand. Collect adults and larvae should be in a container, after which the beetles are destroyed, as a rule, pouring boiling water. This method requires a careful inspection of plants. Most often, insects hide clutches of their eggs under the leaves.
- Folk remedies. The advantage of such methods is harmless to humans and the environment. The use of such methods is popular:
- Grind 100 g of birch charcoal and mix with 10 l of water. Spray with a solution of potato tops.
- Boil the ash for 15 minutes and leave to infuse for 48 hours. After filtering, dilute 50 g of infusion in 10 liters of water, adding 2.5 tbsp. l laundry soap. Spray the tops of potatoes.
- In the aisles, plant calendula and scatter onion husks. Their smell repels pests.
- Pour 500 ml of water with 40 g of Karbofas and insist on a solution of potato peel. Arrange it in cans and bury it around the perimeter of the field. This should be done before the first shoots appear. After waking up, hungry insects will pounce on a poisonous "dessert."
How to collect and store potatoes?
It is possible to preserve the crop well only if the potato has matured well. After the death of the tops, the tubers collect all the necessary substances, including starch. They contribute to giving the variety its characteristic taste and aroma. Ripe potatoes are characterized by the formation of a rough peel with dry eyes.
Before sending the crop to a storage place, the fruits are pre-dried in air. To prevent the greening of tubers will help shelter from sunlight. Next, you need to sort the potatoes and select the defective fruits.
For storage, tubers are used without mechanical damage. Tubers with obvious signs of any disease are immediately destroyed.
Dry the crop in the air before storage. In the storage, the optimal temperature is + 2-4 degrees - this will provide better preservation of potatoes. It is impossible that the humidity in the room was above 70-85%. Sand, gravel or pebbles are poured at the bottom of the storage - they contribute to the absorption of moisture and prevent the development of fungal diseases. The sun should not penetrate into the store.
To prevent the penetration of rodents into the room will help the preliminary layout of the poison to fight rats.
As a container for storage, the optimal use of mesh bags or wooden boxes. When harvesting Rosar potatoes, they get a minimum of defective potatoes. Due to this, it is permissible to transport the crop over long distances, without worrying about its presentation and the preservation of taste until spring.

Yield technology
Gardeners and farmers are actively growing Rosar potatoes, due to the fact that it is well cultivated, undemanding in care.Experienced people have long learned to increase productivity, thanks to the development of several technologies. Do this as follows:
- Grow potatoes on straw, comb method using rotted sawdust and straw. A significant increase in yield and an increase in the qualitative characteristics of root crops is observed precisely when using such methods.
- Planting potatoes on the ridges well increases the number of tubers in conditions of early planting. This contributes to the effective use of winter-spring soil moisture reserves by the plant.
To obtain a guaranteed high yield, it is necessary to properly compose the litter using rotted sawdust, ash and dry chopped grass. Also use rotted straw. Organic litter allows the soil to warm up in a short period of time, and when it decomposes, the plants receive additional nutrition.
Advantages and disadvantages of potatoes
Potatoes Rosar, like many other varieties, has its drawbacks and advantages. Before growing this variety, it is advisable for the gardener to familiarize himself with the possible pros and cons:

Reviews of gardeners
Gardeners often respond positively to rosar potatoes. Many annually grow this potato, noting a high yield even with minimal time-consuming maintenance.
Valentina Isaeva, 45 years old, Orsk, a farmer. Once upon a time, a long-time acquaintance of mine invited me to grow Rosar potatoes. Potatoes, as it turned out, are very resistant to our weather conditions. No one hoped for productivity when in summer during the night the temperature was +2 degrees. But such an opinion was mistaken. This variety gives a high yield, has good taste, large size. I update the seed every five years.
Mikhail Rainichenko, 56 years old, Kursk, gardener. I have a small garden - only 10 acres. I decided to use it exclusively for growing potatoes. I tried many varieties, including Adretta, Gola, Charoite. But then I came across a variety of Rosar, I took a chance. For 10 years in a row I have been growing only it, because it is not only tasty, but also well stored until spring. Rosara is an unpretentious variety that produces smooth, rounded fruits of the same shape. Problems for all these years have never arisen. The only negative, the plant often affects late blight and golden nematode.
Ivan Savelyev, 44 years old, Moscow, amateur gardener. We are satisfied with the cultivation of this variety: the yield is high, it is stored for a long time. Potatoes are suitable for cultivation in any area, without fear that productivity will decrease. The fruits are smooth, the presentation does not deteriorate.
